| Hair expert Scott Cornwall reveals how top tips to ensure your big-day hairstyle complements your dress and veil
DO bear in mind that how you wear your veil will affect your look. A front-positioned veil tends to dominate the bridal style, but works very well if your hair is slicked back into a bun or roll. Veils worn behind a headband or tiara look best when hair is worn down and lightly curled. Wearing a veil at the crown looks great if you have a discreet up-do, such as a French pleat, or if you're going for a half-up half-down effect like Catherine Middleton. DO choose a veil that suits your dress, not your hair 'do. The selection of veil must be based entirely on what type of dress you decide to go with, and the hair styled accordingly. Attaching the veil to the crown area is also a good way to achieve height if you're opting for a down-do. But if your veil is positioned at the back of your head, stick with an up-do, as the veil itself has to be gripped into, or underneath, the actual hairstyle. It's important to remember that veils worn at the back of the head won't necessarily enhance your hairstyle - they're designed predominantly to blend into the wedding dress. DO think about using a hairpiece to hold your veil in place if you choose to wear your hair down. Using a small hairpiece at the crown means the hair can be worn down, but it gives you something to attach the veil behind or in front of. If you don't want to opt for a hairpiece, wearing a tiara and attaching the veil behind it will give you a point of attachment. Also, once the veil is removd, your hairstyle will still have a bridal feature thanks to the tiara. |
